From my desk in the plane, on my way home from Asia this week. Signs that the Olympics have started in London, the Olympic circles of union, are everywhere. The five circles joined have made me think about this wonderful shape. Many do not know there is also a motto. Since the French Olympics of 1924 – Citius, Altius, Fortius – Faster, Higher, Stronger – has been the motto of the games. Now it seems to me the way we travel today – faster, higher, stronger! There is also a symbolic unity in this important historical moment beyond the games. Here, the Olympic colors out the window – blu for a unified Europe.

I am always reading interviews and articles on Asian cuisine and keeping up with who is a good new chef to visit or what is a good new dish to try so finding out that there is much more to learn has been very exciting this week.
There are as many different traditions as there are cities in Asia, and each has a different style or ingredient that embodies their spirit so the culinary discoveries have been both beautiful and delicious.
Sunday from my desk
Everywhere I go, I roll up some cat drawings to take with me. I put them around the new hotel rooms, so that I will always feel at home, even when I leave home. It is a way of settling my heart and soul. I find it brings a calm and natural state that refreshes and centers me. I recall all that I cherish and it brings quiet. Amazing what art can do – through the eye to the heart.

After two weeks of great shows, both the mens and Couture collections, and the intensity that comes with buying, I finally have some peace to work with Claudio at the 10 Corso Como book.
Even though we have about a year to publication, and as an editor I have published many books in the past, since this one is about all 10 Corso Como, it seems a real challenge. Here, some pages on the floor of my office in Paris.

Today another birthday made delightful by finding a card from “Blackie” my cat dressed for a party. For all beginnings there are endings, the challenge is to handle both with humor and with style. Somehow this card does both.
