their first charity handset Constellation Smile,
each handset sold donates the cost of one cleft sugery to Smile Train.
This initiative is being backed by photographer Mary McCartney who
recently visited rural China and Russia
to photograph children supported by the charity.

It is fashion week, and for some reason there is blue everywhere
this week in Milano, and not only on the runways.
It might be the blue sky and the influence of the summer weather where the skies
deepen blue late into the evenings, or perhaps it is the stories we see now about the water problems all over the world. Too little water and sometimes too polluted to be used even if it is there - the environmental mess we are in.
This need for a bright and clear blue is reflected in everything I see this week,
from the Polynesia book of Matisse on my desk to men’s fashion.

The long flight from Shanghai to Milano falling in and out of sleep, in and out of time zones, becomes short moments of collecting, assembling and trying to recall whatever thoughts come my way. Memories, fantasies, confusions and obsessions journey through the eye and brain trying to organize themselves as we finally land. Placed now here staring at me as a surrealist eye that really should be closed on my Sunday desk.

Sunday from my desk is outside in the rain. Waiting with all of Britain to see the Queen start the celebrations for the Jubilee sailing down the Thames wearing her crown. While right now in Milano I am missing the Pope and a million pilgrims in Milano today waiting for another type of procession.
